ABOUT THE BAND

Born from the ashes of punk's distortion and the discovery of acoustic melodies, Flying Hearts are an indie-rock trio that redefines the genre's boundaries. After our singer/songwriter, Joe, lost his best friend at just 28 years old, he went on a songwriting spree, spitting out a tribute to his friend 'Bury Me in England', as well as the powerful tracks Imagine, Gangster Lies and Save The Date.

The debut EP is out now on all major online platforms.

"The song has a lot of power. It is emotional and tells a story that has a lot of meaning. Again, Joe’s enunciation makes this abundantly clear and even provides a slight attitude that can be likened to someone like Damon Albarn in Blur. It’s like a song by The Cure being sang by Billy Bragg." - RGM Magazine

Flying Hearts is made up of Joe Wenman on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, Joe Swift on lead guitar and backing vocals, and Jake Docherty on guitar/keyboard and backing vocals.

The journey started with the two Joe's, in their school days, roaming the corridors of Toynbee School together, near Southampton, rollups in pockets and sporting Green Day sweatbands.

The lads love of music led them to skip classes, losing themselves hidden away in the music department, crafting songs on drums and guitars. While this may have hurt their GCSE results, it ignited a lifelong love for music that would eventually bring them back together.

Jake Docherty joined the band in late 2024 and has added a layer of intense harmonies, extra guitar and keyboard.

The Flying Hearts movement has been steadily building an enthusiastic following, filling up Heartbreakers in Southampton and The Exchange in Bristol. They are currently working on their debut full band album to follow on from their debut acoustic EP.

Frequently compared with The Libertines, Frank Turner, Blur and The Cure, the lads perform with love and passion towards each other and the audience.

The trio's much-anticipated debut EP, “Bury Me In England,” was released on the 8th of November 2024. Featuring just two guitars, two voices, and an abundance of passion, this four-track masterpiece, recorded and produced by Ant Clark and mastered by Andy Baldwin of Metropolis Studios, London, promises to make a bold statement.
